Tantraism in Nepal

Tantraism has played an important role in the making Nepalese culture.Tamtrism gave to nepal religious unity between two religous forces Shivism and Buddhism. The influence of tantrism can be seen in the various festivals, socio-economic life of Nepalese people. The erotic of the temple of hanuman dhoka & other places speaks of the role played by Tantrism on Nepalese life and thought.

King Pratap malla himself was a tantric . He learned tantra from the Tantrics who lived under his patronage. He used to show his skill by asking image of Bhairaba to smile and move its head. The Period of king Pratap Malla was the classic age of Tantrism . King pratap Malla gave patronage to great Tantric named Jamuna Gubhaju and Lumbakarna Bhatta ect. Nepalese people remembered for their mystic miracles. In ancient time great Tantrics even enrolled the gods.
The bisket festivals of Bhaktapur speaks of a grand performance of a tantric named Shekhar Acharya. The festival is reminiscent of the achievement of the great Tantric Shekhar Acharya.Bhairaba is regarded as a Tantric manifestation of Lord Shiva The bhairaba represent the Tantric cult. Bhairaba are numerous in Nepal and are popularly reversed deties of Nepal. This will tell the fact that how Tantra was connected with religion of Nepal. In Nepal some of the untouchable priests of some of the temples attest the strong effect and command at tantrism. Gods like Shiva & Buddha himself declared principles aim and ideals of Tantraism.
The main of tantrism is to give all human being to attain the highest aim of the life, even by living the life of a householder. Under this faith even the vicious, the mischievous, the cruel and all of their types can enjoy the life of bless or enlightment.
Tantrism is also famous magic religion in Nepal. The worship of Asta Matrika ( Eight Mothers) Dasa Mahavidhya ( Ten powerful Power) of goddess Durga become very famous in Nepal. Tantrics of Nepal can involve the assistance of god & goddesses to their services by the spell of their mantras (invocations) and can performed miraculous feats with their spiritual powers. There are many temples and shrines in Nepal where the priests worshipped according to the Tantric rites and rituals. Such as Taleju, Nyatapol , Mahakal Bhairabastha, Vajra Yogini, Sankata , Bagalamukhi etc. since The time of Lichchhivi and Malla Kings, Which enshrines deity of mystic goddess of Tantric origin.
